A bit more information about these as they're one of the most important pieces of gear you'll take to the desert.

We designed these ourselves and also manufacture them. They are a patented design and if you get them sewn to your shoes, are 100% guaranteed to keep all sand out. We also have a version you can velcro on to your shoes which we reckon are at going to keep out 95%+ of the sand, but being able to remove them after the race gives you a bit more flexibility.

We'd always recommend getting the gaiters you sew to your shoes (did we mention we offer a fitting service too?) so you can rest assured the sand isn't going to be a problem. Besides, having spoken with lots of competitors who use our gaiters in races like the MdS and Gob Challenge, there's still the option to roll them down your legs a bit if you're a bit too hot and the sand isn't too deep.

The other good thing about our gaiters is that they are tough and resilient. A very common site at the MdS in particular is to see a lot of people with short gaiters (made form lycra/neoprene) in tatters after a few days. They may look sleek on day one, but they're not very good at keeping the sand out and they're not that great after a couple of encounters with rocks and stones, of which you'll see many over the course of your week in the Sahara.

Cheers
Dave

if we are coming to the Stevenage expo, can we organise the gaiters with you then?
do we bring along our trainers and hand them over or mail them out elsewhere for them to be stitched on professionally?
